You don’t have to fix every thought you’ve ever had. Forget about all the thoughts in the past, because really they’re irrelevant right now. You only ever have to choose your next thought.

Thought Creates Everything (live video, Sept 2026)
What the line actually says
Stripped back, the instruction is small. You cannot go back and revise a thought you already had, so the past is a closed account. What remains is the next one, and the next one is chooseable. That is the whole argument, and it deserves to be taken seriously on its own terms: rumination is effort spent on an object that no longer exists, and the way out is not analysis but redirection. Byrne’s framing adds something on top. Attention is not merely where you look, it is what shapes what arrives, so attending is treated as creative rather than observational.
Where it comes from
Rhonda Byrne wrote The Secret in 2006, and it became one of the longest-running bestsellers of the century, translated into roughly fifty languages. She has published several books since, and Thought Creates Everything is a live online event rather than a printed title — a book under a similar name, Thought Rules, is not due until November 2026. The material sits inside the New Thought current, the same stream that produced the twentieth-century movement around visualization and positive affirmation. Byrne is a genuine and successful publisher and speaker within it. She is not a researcher, and her books are not studies.
